A new way of doing things...

Blaiden was just getting to big for his baby bath tub and was making a mess splashing water all over so I needed to find a new way to give him a bath.  I got this idea from a movie, put Blaiden in the Bumbo!  He can not sit up on his own yet and so this is perfect.  Our bath time has gotten extended because Blaiden loves to play in the water.  He will play with his toys for a while, try to eat the wash rag, and usually ends up just splashing with his hands.  Here are a few pics from what is becoming Blaiden's favorite time of the day.

Man we sure have a cute baby.

Kiara always needs to see what is going on.

Half a Year!

Six Months Old

My Appearance:  I am half a year old today!  I went to the doctor today and I am 28 inches long which is in the 90%, and I weigh 18 pounds 5 ounces, which is the 74%.  My hair is getting longer and Daddy thinks I need a hair cut but Mommy does not.  I get my hair parted to the side and I have little curls around my ears.  I still have a bald spot on the back of my head but I don’t know why because I am never on my back.  My eyebrows are still not really there.  I have the cutest smile and when I smile really big you can see my two bottom teeth.  I still have quite a few rolls but I have grown taller so they are getting a little smaller.  Yesterday I moved up to size 3 diapers, they are a little big but I’m sure they won’t be for long.  I am wearing size 12 month clothes already because I am so long.

Milestones:  This month was not a big month for milestones.  I am mostly getting better at the things I already know how to do.  I am talking a lot more and I must be funny because Mommy and Daddy always laugh at me.  I am also laughing a ton.  Mommy and Daddy are so silly and they try so hard to get me to laugh that I can’t hold it in.  I also have noticed Kiara more this month.  She will come over by me so I can pet her, she also gives me kisses every once in a while.  I have figured out how to use my hands a lot more.  I can reach for stuff and grab it.  I can also switch toys from one hand to another.  I drop stuff a lot but I have plenty of toys I can get instead.  I also know my name.  Mommy and Daddy will call it out to get my attention and I listen most of the time.  Today I started eating solid food.  I don’t really like it yet and I gagged a few times but I am sure I will get the hang of it soon.

Daily Routine:  My routine is pretty regular in what goes on but not really the timing.  I wake up anywhere from 6-8 AM, take 2 or 3 naps a day, and go to bed from 7-8 PM.  In between my sleeping I play with my toys which I love.  I always want something in my hand, and I put everything in my mouth to try and figure out what it is.  Mommy also started to brush my teeth.  I don’t really like the apple-banana flavored toothpaste and I give a sour face every time she puts it in my mouth.  I eat about 6 times a day.  I still enjoy eating but there is always something going on so it takes a while to get through a feeding.  I also love bath time before bed.  Mommy puts me in my Bumbo and I just play in the water.  I love to splash and play with my toys.  I also love story time after my bath.

Special Events:  The 4th of July was this month and we went over to a party.  There was a different dog over there and I didn’t really like him.  One night Mommy put me to bed about 7:30 and I went to sleep for about an hour then wanted to get up and play.  Mommy tried to put me back to bed but I didn’t go back to sleep so I got to stay up late and hang out with Mommy and Daddy while they watched a movie.  I finally went back to bed around 10.  Another night we all went out as a family to eat dinner.  We have not done that in a long time so it was fun to get out of the house.  One thing I loved this month is Mommy and I went to a park and I got to play on the swings.  I had a great time and can’t wait to go back.

Hidden Treasures

For the past few weeks on Saturday we have been getting up early and hitting up some yard sales.  It gets us out of the house and it may not be that fun for Blaiden but Fred and I enjoy it.  We have been finding some good items and they are mostly for Blaiden.  Here are a few pictures of some of our new found treasures.

Toys for Blaiden.  We have also gotten about 15 different books and a few other toys that are not pictured.

We found a high chair for $10 and thought it would be nice to try it out.  Blaiden will be starting solids in a few weeks and we thought we would see before we bought a nice expensive one.

I love everything we got for Blaiden but we have been using this mini-grill about 5 nights a week.  They were asking $7 and we paid $5 and I think we have already gotten our money out of it.

I think this is the best value we have found.  Fred found 10 Baby Einstien DVD's and offered $15 and they took it.  The youngest age is 6 months and we have watched it once. Blaiden was not that interested yet but we will try again in a few weeks.

It's different...

My life has not gone in the direction that I thought it would.  5 short years ago, back in 2007, I was in the middle of college not even sure where I would be in the next 2 years.  I am a big picture kind of thinker and I thought I had my life planned.  I wanted to go to dental school and my heart was set on a school in Boston.  I wanted to be married but Fred was applying for medical school and I knew it would be hard to get into the same school so I wasn't planning on anything.  If I had to guess where I would be I would say I would be in dental school and married but I couldn't guarantee it would be to Fred.  A child might be in there somewhere but I always thought I wanted to be a working mother, yep I wanted it all: career, family, a great husband.

I never would have guessed what actually happened.  I decided to postpone dental school (which now is no-go and I am completely happy with that) get married, move to Missouri, then to Ohio, have a baby, and be a stay at home mom.  I love my life, I don't think it could have turned out better.  Married my best friend in 2009.  I have gotten to live in places I never thought I would have.  And 5 months ago I had my son.  I am a stay at home mom and I think that is the best job in the world and I hope this is my job for the rest of my life.

It's funny how things work out.

Happy 4th

July is a great month: fireworks, my birthday, great weather, and did I mention fireworks. The 4th of July is my favorite holiday of the year, however this year was a little different.  We had a great day but it was like any other day.  Fred had to go into work that morning but he was home by 10:30.  Blaiden woke up from his morning nap and so we thought it would be fun to go eat some nice and greasy carnival food.  Last year our town had a very small park filled with holiday fun but when we drove by it was empty.  We tried going down where there was a morning parade but again we found an empty parking lot.  I guess everyone is waiting until the weekend to celebrate.  That night we went over to a friends house for a BBQ.  It was a fun little get-together.  Like usual we were the first ones to leave so Blaiden could go to bed.  Fred and I stayed up for a while but we were in bed before any of the fireworks went off.  Maybe we will catch some this weekend.

I was holding the camera for most of the day so here are some pictures of my favorite men.  I love this picture of Fred and Blaiden snuggling on the couch.  It is amazing how much they look alike.  Like father like son.
