G-ma's Here Again

Living so far away from family is hard but I am so lucky that my mom comes out as often as she does.  She got an extra part time job when we moved to Ohio so that she could visit us as often as she can.  I am so happy that my kids get to see her, Blaiden knows her by name now.  It has also become such a huge help to me.  Every time she is coming out I take advantage and plan a big project that I want to get done.  She has helped me get our new home looking as good as it does.

This time she was out for 5 days and I decided to give her a break from all the work she does while here.  We did a lot of playing this time which I know she enjoys as much as my kids do.  I had an appointment with a speech therapist at our home for Blaiden and so G-ma was watching Adilene.  She got Adilene to laugh for a minute straight.  It warms my heart to hear that laugh and I am happy my mom got to experience that with her.

Fred and I got to go out on a date.  While on the date we were talking and we have not been out on an actual date- just the 2 of us, since Blaiden was born.  That is over TWO years!  Our date was awesome, we went to an expensive restaurant that we had a gift card to.  Dinner was delicious and it was great to get out.  Fred asked if I wanted to go to a show or do something else but I just couldn't.  We got home and Blaiden was still up so I got to put him to bed.  I am getting better at leaving my kids, I even have had a babysitter put Blaiden to bed before, but it is hard for me to be away for to long.

My mom and I also went to the mall, we had to go 2 days in a row because it is hard working around nap times.  We let Blaiden run around the stores because I didn't have my double stroller yet, and boy-o-boy did he have a great time.  He was super wild and crazy, I got a few dirty looks for having "that" child in a few stores but I didn't really care he didn't break anything.

The trip seemed to go by so fast and I think we were all wishing for a few more days (except maybe Fred) before she had to go home.  The next trip isn't planed yet but she is trying to talk me into going to Colorado next.  We will have to wait and see about that.

Adilene's Room

I wanted to do a tour of Adilene's room mostly to show it off.  I love how it turned out, it is actually the room in the house that has taken the most time and work (if you don't count the basement that we are doing now).

This is a letter that my mom made for Adilene, it hangs on the outside of her door and I love it.  It is the perfect way into her room.  The yellow wall has a grey stencil on it that I love.  When my mom was out here in August we painted her room and it took about 3 days all together but this wall is my favorite wall in the entire house.  After it was all painted Fred refinished the hardwood floors.  That was also a project that was a little difficult but the end result looks great.  The bedding is another part of the room I love.  I found this material when I went home to Colorado in October and wanted to try and make her bedding.  My Granny offered to do it for me and I of course said yes!  I love that it is so unique, no one but Adilene has this bedding (minus the sheets).  The frames were a Christmas gift from my mom.  I love the quote and they work great in the room.

We had all of her furniture except the glider before she was born.  Even though she was a month early we had almost everything in place.  One of the best parts of having a girl are the hair accessories.  My sister-in-law had display similar to this.  I thought it was super cute and practical so I could see what she had.  I completed this project for about $5 and love the impact it has in this corner of her room.

4 Months Old

Four Months Old

My Appearance:  I now weigh 13 pounds 2 ounces and am 23.5 inches long.  I have grown this past month and I am looking a little leaner than I did last month.  That being said, I still have a very round middle section.  My eyes are still dark, beautiful, blue/grey color.  My hair is growing unevenly now so I have a few strands that are a little longer than others.  It is still very blonde and hard to see but it is growing.  My head circumference is also growing because I can now wear some of my head bands and pretty bows, I think Mommy likes this more than me.

Milestones:  This month I have learned so much, not only do I smile more but I also laugh.  I am still pretty stingy with these but I am getting better about letting people see my smile and hear my laugh.  I still won’t let Mommy get a picture of it however!  She is getting a little upset about that.  I am getting a lot stronger and like to sit forward now because I can hold up my head better.  I am starting to push off with my legs now too.  I have discovered my hands and I love to bring them together and just see what I can do with them.  I can also follow Mommy and Daddy’s voice and know their faces. I also know when they leave and I always try and yell to get them to come back.

Daily Routine:  I am sleeping through the night on a consistent basis now and Mommy loves that.  She still has to get up in the night to pump but she likes that she is only awake for about 20 minutes rather than the hour when I was waking up.  I wake up about 6 and eat every 3 hours until I go to bed around 9.  I take a nap whenever I am tired, 1 long nap and 2-3 short ones.  I am playing a lot more and love to hear music.  Blaiden, Mommy, and I have singing and dance parties almost every day.

Special Events:  I got to see g-ma again this month and one day she was moving like a train and I thought that it was so funny I was giggling so loud.  I am happy Mommy was in the room because she gets jealous when I do stuff when she is not around.  G-ma also got to watch me and Blaiden while Mommy and Daddy went out on a date.  I also celebrated my first Valentine’s Day.  I’m not sure what was going on but I wore a cute shirt and Mommy took a ton of pictures.

3 Months Old

So I can't believe that I forgot to post this.  It's a month late but here is the 3 month update for Adilene.

Three Months Old

My Appearance:  I now weigh 12 pounds 5 ounces and am 22 inches long.  My hair is starting to grow a little but it is still very blonde and you can’t really see it in my pictures yet.  My eyes are still a dark blue and Mommy hopes they stay that way.  I have a very round face and my cheeks are very plump and all Mommy does is kiss them.  My neck is getting stronger but most of the time I can’t lift my head up and so it makes my face look chunky, I’m sure that this will change when I get stronger.  My belly is big and round.  Mommy and Daddy comment on it especially after I get done eating.  My legs are always moving but they have some fat on them too.  I have a few rolls on my thighs but they tell me it’s healthy so I just keep in eating.

Milestones:  This month I started smiling!  Mommy and Daddy get so excited when I do it but I don’t want to spoil them so I don’t do it that often.  I also will not let Mommy document it, any time she gets the camera out I stop smiling.  She tells me I better get over this because she takes tons of pictures.  I also slept through the entire night this month.  Mommy was so surprised she said she didn’t sleep well that night but I sure did.

Daily Routine:  Not much has changed from last month; I am eating every 3 hours.  Eating is still something that takes some time because nursing is still too hard for me but I am trying and I am getting better.  I am getting into more of a routine, I eat then I am awake for about an hour then take a nap.  When I wake up it is time to eat again.  When I am awake I do tummy time or hang out with Mommy or Daddy, sometimes Blaiden holds me too.  I have moved back into my bassinet in the living room again because Daddy found some mold in the basement under my room.  He is taking care of that but until it’s all gone I can’t quite move into my room yet.

Special Events:  I got to meet Ukki and Tonka this month!  It was so fun to have people around to hold and play with me all the time.  They were here for almost a week and I had a great time getting to know them.  I also got to help my brother celebrate his 2nd birthday which was fun for a while but then I took a nap.
