8 Months Already

Eight Months Old

My Appearance:  I am officially 8 months old now and I am now weighing in at 19 pounds even and 29 and ½ inches long.  My hair is long and messy all the time.  I have cute little curls around my ears, and my bald spot on the back of my head is almost completely filled in with hair.  My eyebrows are starting to fill in a bit more and are turning a light brown.  My eyes are still blue as the sky.  I didn’t gain much weight this month so I am starting to look a bit leaner however I still have a round belly.  My knees are always red and are starting to get tough because I crawl all over.  Every part of my body is growing, my head has grown out of my summer hat, my arms and legs are so long and my hands and feet are big.

Milestones:  One of the biggest things I did this month is start to say “Mama.”  Mommy got so excited when I said it that I kept that up for about 2 weeks, after that I took a break for a while but I am back to saying it.  I started crawling last month but I have perfected it this month.  I now crawl on my hands and knees and I am getting pretty fast.  I have also started to pull up to stuff, I can get to my knees easily now and so Daddy had to lower my crib mattress so I don’t fall out.  On my 8th month birthday I finally got to my feet while pulling up.

Daily Routine:  I am doing all the same stuff that I have been doing for months, play eat and sleep.  I am down to 2 naps a day and go to bed around 7pm.  I am eating well even if I am not gaining much weight.  I love playing with all my toys but I like playing with people way better.  I like when Mommy takes me shopping because I get to see people and I love to show off my great smile.  Mommy and I go outside a lot, most of the time she pushes me in the stroller while she goes for a run.  Daddy has been gone for work but I have got to see him a few times each week.  One of my favorite things to do right now is crawling through or over anything, toys, legs, Kiara, it doesn’t matter.

Special Events:  This month Mommy and I went to Colorado for Mommy’s Uncle Blane’s funeral.  I got to meet some of Mommy’s family that I had never got to meet before and got to see a lot of kids my age.  I also got to visit Daddy’s family while I was there.  I got my first big owie this month when I got hit in the head by my cousin Hadley.  I healed by the next day and Hadley gave me a kiss so it was okay.  I also got to meet my newest cousin Dempsey when he was just 1 day old.  When we got home Daddy and I watched our first Bronco game together.

Saying goodbye...

Blaiden and I had to make an unexpected trip back to Colorado last week for a very sad event.  On Sunday September 2nd my uncle Blane was up in the mountains camping with his family.  A tradition they had done for years.  That night he had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital, he fought very hard for almost 5 days but he did not make it.
The next day Blaiden and I headed home to be with our family.  It is amazing how just being with family during hard times makes it a little more bearable.  We stayed home for a week and spent as much time with all of the Larsen's as possible.  Blane was a great Uncle and I will miss him dearly.
On Friday September 14th, a day before we came back home, Blane's daughter, Kella, had her baby.  It was a bittersweet moment for our family but I feel so blessed that I got to meet little Dempsey and didn't have to wait until we went back in December.

First Word!!!!

Who would have thought that one of the best moments of my life would happen in Walmart.  Well it did.  On August 29th Blaiden and I were strolling through the isles looking for some storage ideas and I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to Blaiden because he started whining.  I looked at him and he had his arms stretched out to me and said "MAMA"!!!!  Of course I had to pick him up right then.  I was so excited and just talking away with Blaiden. I am sure the people walking by were thinking that is one crazy mom, but I didn't care.  I was not positive that he had said it but it happened two more times that day.  I finally got a first.  He is saying it more and more everyday and I still get excited every time.  Now it's time to work on "dada."

Like Father Like Son

Looking back through some photos I have noticed that Fred and Blaiden are two of a kind.

From Fathers Day

4th of July

Cuddle time with Daddy
Saying "night night"
Play time!!
Time to roll over
"I want to play Madden too!"

Mobile Baby

I am an little behind on the updates this happened almost 3 weeks ago, time just seems to fly by.  So a few weeks ago Fred was home on the weekend and we figured that we would try and baby proof a little because we knew the crawling was coming soon.  Less then a week later on August 16th, it happened.  Of course Blaiden waited until I was out of the room and started crawling for Fred first.  This always happens, I am the one who is always around and then when Fred and Blaiden are alone Blaiden decided to do the big stuff.  Fred loves this.  The next morning I got to see him do it and my mom was here so she got to see him crawl too.  He has not stopped yet and is loving his new found freedom.  He finds something new to explore every day.  He loves that he can now go to Kiara and play with her, she actually likes this too.  He has had a few boo boo's but nothing big yet. I am sure it is coming soon.  Everyday he is getting faster and it is starting to look like a real crawl, it started out as more of an army crawl.

It's Official

Okay so I have done it.  I am registered for a half marathon.  I have had this plan since I heard about it from a coworker (back when I was still working, and about 6 months pregnant).  I am still in shock that I am actually going to do this, but there is no turning back now I have have paid the fee and there is no way I am wasting that money.  There is 3 1/2 weeks until D-day and I am working hard.  This past week I took Blaiden out for a run and took a few pictures.
Before we started, he was ready to go!

Half way point, and he is fading.

Back at the car and he is out.

I was a runner back when I was young, and I mean really young.  I qualified for the regional of the Hershey's Track Meet and thought I was as fast as lightning until... I got last.  I didn't really run much after that.  I was in track for a few years in high school but still not very fast.  After I got married, moved to Missouri, and couldn't find a job, I found myself at the gym a lot and what can you do at the gym alone... run.  I thought it would be good to get into shape for our honeymoon.  I trained for a 10K but never got to run it because we left for our trip before race day.  Since then I have just wanted to run a race and a half marathon just seemed like it would be such an accomplishment, so I put it on the bucket list.  Well it will have taken me a few years but on September 29th I will be able to cross this off the list!
