Feeding the Birds

Our playgroup had a field trip at the end of March.  We got to go on a nature walk, explore a greenhouse, and attempt to feed some birds.  Blaiden was very excited about this because he really loves birds.

The day was a little cold and it was a muddy walk but Blaiden had fun and Adilene stayed warm so it all worked out.  We started out our day in a greenhouse filled with plants from all over the world.  I found this more interesting then the kids.  Blaiden had fun because he got to feed some turtles and drive the remote control train.  Adilene tried to grab every plant we walked by.

Then it was time to take a little walk to go feed some birds.  This was by far Blaiden's favorite part, he splashed in the puddles, dug in the dirt, and played with sticks the entire way.  I had to carry Adilene because I forgot the stroller but I don't think she minded because she was going through some pretty bad separation anxiety where if she couldn't see me then she was scared.

When it was time to feed the birds we were all supposed to be very quiet and still.  Something that is pretty difficult for kids ages 1-3, so needless to say we didn't feed any birds.  We all had a great time but it was cut short by Blaiden needing to use the potty so we had to rush back down the trail.  Just before we left we got to see 2 bunnies!

St. Patrickts Day

This little holiday was really just another day for us.  I didn't have anything special planned except to put the kids in green clothes.  Blaiden is really getting into picking out his own clothes and he knows what he likes.  I had to go to the craft store and so I let Blaiden pick out a little toy.  He picked a shamrock on a stick and said it was his magic wand, he is so funny!  He played with it for the ride home and then was over it.  When we got home I took some pictures of the kids and Adilene was loving the "magic wand" so I got some really cute pictures of her.

Later in the afternoon I surprised Blaiden and told him we could go get some ice cream.  He was so exited because I told him he could get some with M&M's in it!  It was a fun day.  I am excited for the next few years when I can make all their food green!

Demolition

We have a long list of things that we want to do to our home.  We were finally ready to take on another project but Fred and I had different ideas of what we should do next.  I thought the bathroom was a good next project because it wouldn't be too hard or expensive it only needed a little updating.  I also knew that it would be something we could get done in a weekend.  Fred had some different ideas and wanted to jump into a huge renovation, our kitchen.  He talked me into letting him take a small piece of drywall off just to see if the wall separating the kitchen was load baring or not.  Somehow this little hole became rather large and every time I was in the kitchen it was all I could look at.  I told Fred it had to go because I couldn't stand to look at just a hole anymore.

So throughout the week every night Fred would do a little more work.  When he was finished I pretty excited because now our house is so much brighter and more open.  We are by no means close to finished with this project and probably won't be for another 6 months but the wall is gone and we have patched the carpet.  I still can't say I think it was the right next project but I will love it when we are finished.

All of these pictures were taken with my cell phone and I can never remember to take one when the sun is not shining right through the window.  Here is one of the best after shots I have taken.  Please ignore the messy counter top.  And we also are using a folding table to test out where we want to put our island, classy I know.

Leaps and Bounds

February was a HUGE month for Adilene!  In this short month Adilene's development seemed to be on fast forward and it seemed like she was doing something new every day.  It all started on January 31 with her learning how to sit up! It's like she just decided to do and she could.  This then lead to her learning how to get in and out of sitting! Because she could now hold her body up and not just fold over when I sat her up she got to finally get out of her baby bathtub and use the big bathtub.  I have never seen this girl so happy!  She would crawl to the back of the tub do superman and slide back to the other side and repeat.  She was all giggles and it was probably the cutest thing I have ever seen!

She didn't stop as sitting, she also started pulling herself up on things.  It started with low objects like her little chair or stool but then she moved onto the coffee table and couch.  I also brought down a standing table toy and she loves to pull up on that as well.  Getting down is the hardest part for her and she hasn't mastered it yet, she gets stuck quite often.  She has also fallen a few times and so she usually has a bruise somewhere.  She also learned how to wave so whenever you say "bye-bye" to her she will wave to you!

She also got 6 new teeth this month which brings her total to 10 teeth!  Now that she can chew up food a lot better she is completely on table food and loving it.  Since she is eating so well she went down to 4 bottles a day.

Valentine's Day

I enjoy Valentine's Day.  Fred and I would never do anything big we usually ended up getting each other the same gift, a reese's and lottery tickets.  Now with kids I love to get them little toys and it gives me an excuse as to why I am always kissing and hugging them.  This year I did something fun and make the entire day special.  When they woke up there was a little box of goodies by their door.  Blaiden loved this!  He ate a candy necklace for breakfast and thought it was pretty much the coolest thing ever!  Then randomly throughout the day I would surprise them with another little gift.  It was fun to see the excitement last all day.  This age is so fun because I can go to the dollar store and get random little toys and the kids love it!  It might be a little harder when they want more expensive things.

I loved their shirts and they were extra special because my mom made them!

Fred's Birthday

Every year I want to have a party, decorate, make a cake, and have gifts for Fred to open and every year I have to fight the urge because Fred doesn't want any of that.  He Doesn't want to be the reason for a party or be the center of attention.  So this year was no different then any other year, I made the same thing I usually do and we spent the night at home as a family.

Blaiden was a little concerned that we didn't have any decorations up because that is what you do for birthdays so we had to work on that.  We decided that we would decorate the house in Bronco's or as Blaiden says "football!"  Fred laughed at me when he came home but when I told him that it was Blaiden's idea he was all for it.  Fred opened his gifts first thing when he got home.  He is worse then a child about waiting to open presents.  Overall I think he had a good birthday.

Because it is his birthday and this is a post all about Fred I wanted to just talk about this amazing man that is in our lives!  He is a wonderful father, the kids really can't get enough of him!  Blaiden will remember EVERY single detail that Fred tells him.  I'll ask him something and he response is "well dad says..."  Even when Blaiden was a baby many of his "firsts" happened when it was just him and Fred.  Adilene is definitely a mommy's girl right now but I can already see her starting to show off when her dad is around.  The first time she sat up was for him and I'm sure that wont be the last thing she does to impress her father.

Fred works so hard for our family.  Being a resident is a hard job, the hours are long and different every day, there is stress, and even when he is off he is either talking or reading ortho!  On top of this he also started working at a stat care to earn a little extra money for our family.  This keeps his busy about 2 nights a week but there are times it could be 4 nights in one week.  Once you stack that on top of call nights he could work a week straight!

On those rare nights or weekends off he is busy making our home a little nicer.  He has already completed our basement remodel and did all of the work himself and now he has moved on the kitchen!  I didn't know I married a man that was so talented in construction.

I know that I don't say this enough to him but I appreciate everything he does for our family.  He works extra hard so that I can stay home and don't have to worry about money.  He shows his love to us everyday weather it be when he brings home a snack for Blaiden, helps Adilene learn how to walk, or takes me on crazy amazing trips!

We love you very much Fred!
